SharePoint Server 2010 SP2 is Now Available

Microsoft has released Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SharePoint Server 2010. According to Microsoft SharePoint Team Blog, SP2 addresses security, stability, and performance and provides better compatibility with Windows 8, Internet Explorer 10, Office 2013, and SharePoint 2013.

SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 2 includes lots of fixes and includes all the Cumulative Updates (CUs) through April 2013 and Public Updates through May 2013. By the way, Service Pack 2 cannot be slipstreamed into installation media for use with installation on Windows Server 2012. This has to do with the required changes to the Prerequisite Installer. Microsoft has announced that the installation of SharePoint Server 2010 with Service Pack 2 on Windows Server 2012 computers will require an integrated Service Pack 2 installation media which is expected after the Service Pack 2 is released.
